3 Types Of Denture Implants

Implant Bridges

Implant Bridges Elk Grove CA

When it comes to addressing the issue of missing teeth, you have several restoration options to consider, including traditional dental bridges, dentures, and denture bridge implants. To make an informed decision about the most suitable treatment, it's essential to consult with your periodontist or dentist and carefully weigh the benefits and drawbacks of each option.

Traditional dental bridges serve as a well-established solution for filling the gaps left by missing teeth. Whether you need to replace individual teeth or an entire row, traditional dental bridges are designed to match the shade of your natural teeth. They consist of abutments that provide support, which can either be your natural teeth or specialized implant connectors, and pontics, the artificial teeth that effectively close the gap.

While traditional dental bridges and dentures are well-known options, implant bridges stand out as an innovative and advanced solution. Dental implants are recognized as the gold standard for addressing missing teeth due to their aesthetic appeal, durability, and longevity. However, traditional implant treatments, which involve a single implant with a crown, can be costly, especially for those requiring full mouth reconstructions.

Fortunately, a newer, more cost-effective approach has emerged, combining the advantages of implants with the affordability of denture implants. Various brand names, such as "All-on-4 implants," "All On 6 Implants," and "Teeth Tomorrow," represent this approach. These specialized implant bridges use a reduced number of implants, often 6 or 4, to support an entire arch, as opposed to the traditional 8. This strategy not only offers a more budget-friendly solution but also expedites the recovery process, making it a highly attractive option for individuals seeking implant bridges and full dental reconstruction.

How Do Implant Bridges Work?

Implant bridges are a remarkable solution for replacing missing teeth, offering both stability and permanence. They work by combining two key components: dental implants and the bridge structure.

Dental implants serve as artificial tooth roots, anchoring the bridge firmly in the jawbone. They are surgically placed and integrate with the bone through a process known as osseointegration. This fusion ensures that the implants become a solid and permanent part of your oral anatomy. As a result, they provide a secure foundation for the denture implant bridge.

The bridge structure itself comprises artificial teeth, or pontics, designed to match the appearance of your natural teeth. This bridge also includes a framework that connects the pontics and attaches to the dental implants. The combination of these components results in an implant bridge that is stable, non-removable, and functions like natural teeth.

In the case of All on 4 Implants, the placement of the four implants is strategic to support the entire arch adequately, making it a preferred method for full mouth dental implants. Your dentist will place two implants in the posterior of the mouth and two implants in the anterior of the mouth. The anterior or front implants are placed traditionally into the jaw in a straight manner. In contrast, the posterior implants are inserted at a 45-degree angle to avoid needing a bone graft. Bone grafts are typical for patients with insufficient bone density to support the posterior implants fully. The angled placement simplifies the procedure and reduces costs by eliminating the need for bone grafts of the rear jaw bon

The procedure can vary; however, to give an idea of the process, we will review the step-by-step process for Traditional Implant Bridges.

Step1: The first step is to schedule an initial consultation so your dentist can assess whether you are suitable for implant bridges. Your dentist will use 3D imaging and decide your new teeth' aesthetic and functional properties, such as dental crown length and bite placement.

Step 2: This step involves reshaping of your abutment teeth (the natural teeth that will support your bridge). Your dentist will prepare a computer simulation of your mouth and take dental impressions and send them to a dental laboratory. A technician will then create a final bridge to use.

Step 3:  Temporary bridge is placed on the patient until the final bridge is complete

Step 4: Two to three weeks after their initial placement, the temporary bridge is removed and replaced with a permanent bridge. Recovery at this point should be relatively quick, with little discomfort.

New Teeth in One Day

One of the most significant benefits of implant bridges is the ability to walk into your dental office needing teeth replacements and walk out with new teeth in a day. Patients can leave with a fully reconstructed smile. However, remember the same-day benefits only reflect the placement of implants and temporaries, as there is no shortcut to osseointegration. This treatment is not complete until the implants have fully fused to the bone, which can take several months, and the permanent restorations bond to the implants.

Your dental office must have 3D imaging technology to map your jawbone and fabricate temporary dentures for same-day treatment. Many dentists are currently updating their office technology, so confirm the tools are available for this procedure.

Cost Of Implant Bridge

The implant-supported bridge cost can vary based on several factors. These include the number of dental implants required, the materials used for the bridge, and any additional procedures such as tooth extractions or bone grafts. Implant bridges are an investment in your oral health and well-being, offering a durable and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. It's essential to consult with your dentist or oral surgeon to obtain a personalized cost estimate based on your specific dental needs and circumstances.

Are You a Dental Implant Bridge Candidate?

If you require teeth replacement, implant bridges or implant-supported bridge could be your optimal solution. Schedule a consultation with a dentist experienced in performing implant-supported procedures. If you wear removable dentures, you may have already suffered some bone loss that must first receive treatment. Your dentist will thoroughly evaluate the health of your jawbone to determine whether implant-supported dentures fit you.
